GRATEFUL to have been surrounded by the best teachers: dedicated, compassionate, caring, creative, resourceful... Now I understand why some of them would lose their temper or punish the whole class as I'd experienced in the 70s. Dealing with 30 (or 130!!!) chatty and restless children could put teachers at their wit's end, lead to miscarriages or stress leaves or high attrition rates, etc. I wish world leaders could invest in education (and reduce class sizes) more than they do in lethal weapons.
