From leaves to stem,
Flowers to fruit, seeds and skin,
You give all of you and your kin:
Your sweet flesh into our muffins,
Your baked crunchy seeds between our teeth,
Before you’re carved into a Jack ‘o Lantern.
In my omelette, your chopped leaves and stems,
And in my fritters today, your lovely flowers.
Now who wouldn’t want you in their garden?
