Indeed, the grass was always greener
On the other side of our backyard fence
Where a couple worked as a team,
Clearing, planting, watering,
Laying turf, installing a Jacuzzi hot tub…
And in the evenings, love was in the air
With soft music, torch lights, wine glass clinks.
The envy of those who had nothing,
Nothing more than drinking and grilling.
Then one day, the partner left,
And everything dried and died.
The one left behind never set foot again
In the yard that was once alive
And shared with the birds and the bees,
The squirrels, rabbits and hares.
Now Autumn Wind blows trash from all over,
Planting them in all corners of this yard.
Winter Snow and Spring Hail bury them
While Spring Sun exposes them again and again…
Where the grass was once greener
And the Jacuzzi hot tub felt love.
