I know what you did in spring...

You froze at the sight of me,
Then ran through the wire mesh,
Stopped in the middle of the football field
And buried your 100th nut about 3 inches deep.

When snowfall starts long before winter,
I hope your sense of smell remains keen
And your triangulation skill doesn't fail.
For you just might give up with snow 12-inch deep
And leave the peanut to grow and multiply
To feed strangers like me who now know why
To nut-bearing plants we never say goodbye.
