"Plenty of food, crafts, music, skiing,
softball and fun" the signs and banners sing.
And all await this time of year
when the sun screams with laughter,
and the crystalline water's clear--
so inviting, so enchanting...
such that an Elizabethtown child
is charmed, and into its depth, dives...
So JM's chair in school is empty today,
and all hearts grieve even at play,
wondering how he could leave so soon
and couldn't wait for many a moon.

a colleague's. and known to my kids, so we had to talk about safety near water and death... i was just as devastated.
