Well, how do you do young Willy McBride
Do you mind if I sit here down by your graveside
And rest for a while in the warm summer sun
I've been walking all day and I'm nearly done.

So many young Willie McBrides
fighting for freedom since 1916
ironically for an elusive peace
this world can't seem to conceive
despite all these technologies.

The world is now burdened and weary
with corpses deep in the North Sea,
or much deeper in the Atlantic.
With mangled bodies in the English Channel,
with the wasted in the cruel crevices of the Mideast,
in the concrete jungles or the burning sands of Africa,
with the slaved zombies of sleepless Asian factories and brothels,
with the sunken souls of refugee camps and reservations,
with the swollen-bellied human mules of South America
and with the indifference of others
and higher European border gates…
