Seafood Island

It wasn’t bad getting stuck at Camp John Hay on a stormy day, especially with Seafood Island around. We enjoyed everything, whether grilled or not: tilapia, chicken, pork, squid, eggplant, tomatoes, mussels… before soaking in the rain and jumping over puddles again. These were served on bamboo skewers on bamboo stands, with rice, a crab and prawns, watermelon and green mangoes on a mat of banana leaves. Yum! What’s my favourite? The fresh seaweed, arocep, that seemed to have fallen from heaven -- that’s because I hadn’t had it for many, many years. Will you try Seafood Island, too? It doesn’t have to be a stormy day… Baguio City, Philippines July 2012
