Thanks to spring showers,
A free car wash from Heaven
On a chilly Good Friday,
So under winter blankets I lazily lay
Til Playing for Change got me movin’.
First electrified by Louis Mhlanga’s guitar,
Then energized by Tula’s powerful voice,
Got me thinkin’ with Buddy Guy’s “Skin Deep,”
Singin’ with Marley’s “No More Trouble”
And finger snappin’ with “Don’t Worry, Be Happy”.
Realizin’ I “ain’t got on cash, ain’t got no style,”
But I’m around kids that make me smile
Make green smoothies when I can,
Banana pancakes from scratch,
Pinakbet and daing na bangus when no one’s around,
Peanut butter cakes before the PB expires,
And veggie burgers once in a while.
Ain’t no complainin’ when days are dark and dreary
Just grateful that another spring day has come
And I’m far from weary.
