Lina Jamison: Why is this happening in the first place?

Check out these lyrics:

But if you walk the footsteps of a stranger / You'll learn things you never knew you never knew... Colors of the Wind / Lea Salonga
Gonna live while I'm alive, sleep when Im dead... I'll Sleep When I'm Dead / Bon Jovi
I want to know, have you ever seen the rain?
I'm going where there's no depression / To the land that's free from care... No Depression in Heaven / Sheryl Crow
Life is a highway / I wanna ride it all night long... Life is a Highway / Rascal Flatts
That's why we're waiting / Waiting on the world to change... Waiting on the World to Change / John Mayer
There must be more to life than living / A better way for us to survive... There Must Be... / Freddie Mercury
There's gotta be something more / Gotta be more than this... Something More / Sugarland
There's only one place they call me one of their own... Who Says You Can't Go Home? / Bon Jovi
When stormy weather comes around / It was made in heaven... Made in Heaven / Freddie Mercury

Four Strong Winds - Ian Tyson (performed by Sarah McLachlan, Phish and Neil Young)

Think I'll go out to Alberta,
Weather's good there in the fall.
I got some friends that I could go to working for,
Still I wish you'd change your mind
If I asked you one more time,
But we've been through that a hundred times or more.

Four strong winds that blow lonely,
Seven seas that run high,
All those things that don't change, Come what may.
If the good times are all gone,
And I'm bound for moving on.
I'll look for you if I'm ever back this way.

If I get there before the snow flies,
And if things are going good,
You could meet me if I send you down the fare.
But by then it would be winter
Not much for you to do
And those winds sure can blow cold way out there

More lyrics for thought...

I never complain, I never ask: 'Why?' / Please don't let my dreams run dry, / Underneath, underneath this Amarillo Sky.. - Jason Aldean -

Every rose has its thorn - Poison -

What do you say to jumping off the edge?
- Taking Chances -

You know the nearer your destination / The more you're slip slidin' away.... / We work our jobs / Collect our pay / Believe we're gliding down the highway / When in fact we're slip slidin' away
- Paul Simon -

The dream never dies / just the dreamer...
- Cooper Brothers -

Butterflies are free to fly, and so they fly away / And I'm left to carry on and wonder why...
- Sheryl Crow -
