Close to hibernation
Heavens showed mercy
Poured precipitation
Knee-deep snow to trudge
Inches and inches to brush
Flooding in some areas
Sweeping away homes and cars
Truly, the fires were scared off
But snow and rain were punitive
Mother Earth utterly vindictive.
