Fourteen years ago in North Carolina, my principal asked me if I wanted to move from the middle school to the primary school. I told her that I would go wherever I was needed, anywhere in town, anywhere in the world. And on my first day in the primary school's Exceptional Children's program (K-4), I met all these lovely children who enjoyed one another's company in the classroom and on the playground, and I would just hear this song in my head over and over again and I was really glad:
Jesus loves the little children
All the children of the world
Red, brown, yellow
Black and white
They are precious in His sight
Jesus loves the little children
Of the world
THANK YOU, teacher Barbara Henry,
for teaching them altogether until the colour of their skin didn’t matter at
all.
