I COME tonight to say goodbye

I come tonight to say goodbye
To my East Lake feathered friends
Whose names I haven’t even learned
But most of them have gone
The robins, blackbirds, coots, ducks and geese
Hiding in the cattails or moving south
Who can tell?
But this time, five fledgling magpies
Are learning to forage for food in the grass
While their folks fight on the ball field.
Gracious gulls above, and four waterfowl below
I named Single Lady, Single Mom, Sweet Lovers…
To all I bid farewell and wish for fine weather
As we all migrate elsewhere.
