This is one of the favorite group activities of the children, wherever and whenever. It could be building with snow and ice outdoors in winter or building with everyday items indoors in summer. This time, my little friends used the couch, a foam mattress, chairs and blankets and built a spacious one fit for three people so they invited me in.
Me: It’s my naptime, so everybody nap for half an hour then it’s snack time.
Siblings: Opo. (Translation: “Yes” with respect for older people.)
Inside the fort, here’s what the two siblings did as “quietly” as they could:
1. Laughed out loud: They would recall funny movie scenes and just laugh non-stop until they farted and laughed harder. (e.g., “Do you remember when the guy in Abominable had blueberries under his pants?”)
2. Did drama: They would deliver their favorite lines from movies they’d seen.
3. Went silly: I’m going to fart loud. / I’m farting louder. / Mine’s the loudest!
4. Made noise: snoring, engine noise, scratching sound…
5. Tried to nap and argue: You’re kicking me! No, I’m not! It‘s just my long legs. / Stop scratching me! I’m scratching myself!
6. Fought: I said stop!!! You didn’t say please!!!
That’s it!
After trying to nap (or trying not to laugh with them) for half an hour…
Me: It’s time for snacks! Thank you for sharing your fort with me.
Siblings: Yay!
