Thought winter would never come

Thought winter would never come
For it was the warmest December
So I waited in January and powder fell
And simply flew off with the wind.
Then came stubborn frost that needed scraping
Followed by biting cold that left my teeth chattering
And days of snowfall, coating the skeletal hedges,
Shrubs and bushes, just like egg white icing on sticks.
